Fogged / Misted Windows

Misting is a frequent problem on double-glazed units. This can be due to age of the unit or sometimes by incorrect fitting. Repair involves the replacement of the failed glass pane or unit. All our new and replacement glass come with a ten year guarantee on parts and labour in the unlikely event of a unit failing. Some companies offer to "repair" misted units. This is not a good idea. A sealed unit has to have a completely dry environment between the panes of glass. This is achieved by having desiccant (moisture absorbing beads) inside the spacer tube which will effectively dry out the area when the unit is made.

Failed Hinges

Once broken, the only remedy is to replace the failed part. Virtually all hinges are still available so don't be fooled in to spending more than you really need to.

Broken Glass

We can replace broken glass quickly and efficiently. We're able to match existing tints, shading, lead work and Georgian bars so you can be sure that the finished job looks every bit as good as the original. If you have coloured leaded units, it may be necessary to temporarily board the individual unit to get an exact match, but again, don't think you will need a whole new window.

Lock Failures

Age can wear down the mechanism or in some instances an attempted break-in can lead to faults. Often if a lock fails, it's an ideal opportunity to replace the whole mechanism for a more recent - and more secure - model.
People often choose lock upgrades as a result of police or insurance company recommendation.

Failed Handles

Once broken the only remedy is to replace the failed part.
Whether it is for a door or window, most handles are still available, but in the event a part is not, an alternative can be found 99% of the time.

Door Panels

Some older uPVC can discolour or yellow after time. However, this problem can be fixed by fitting a new panel insert into the door frame, giving the discoloured door a great new look and saving you from having to buy a whole new door. The newer panels have an additive in the plastic to prevent the problem. Want a new look to your home? There is a large selection of panels available, so you can change the look of your door very easily, and the cost is a lot less than a new door.
